Happy Birthday Lauren Craft!

Meet the native Houstonian jewelry designer behind pieces like the Soho Bitch bracelet.

Fine jewelry designer Lauren Craft started her highly-regarded line in Houston. She now lives in New York but is back home frequently to check on her retailers and spend time with family. We asked the boundary-pushing designer about her favorite local haunts and what bauble she might name the "River Oaks Socialite."

It's your birthday today! How many candles are you blowing out?

Our gift is shipping you a taste of home: Crave Cupcakes. Favorite flavor?
Yum! Strawberry.

You have a cult following of clients here. Describe a Houston woman's style.
Chic from head to toe, dripping in diamonds always…

Any celeb clients?
Charlize Theron bought my Soho Bitch bangle!

The names for your pieces are outrageous and we love them (Wall Street Wife, The Prenup Ring, Gotham Skinny Bitch, Two-Sided Bitch). How do you choose them?
The names I created for the pieces explain the type of women I envisioned wearing my jewelry. For example, the Soho woman I can picture will be dressed impeccably chic with a bitchy attitude wearing my iced out diamond Soho Bitch bangle.

Just for fun, you named a piece "River Oaks Socialite," what kind would it be?
A huge rose gold diamond cuff with rose cut diamonds. Classy and timeless…

What's next for you?
I have been working on an eveningwear line of clutches. I am incorporating my fine jewelry into the clasps on the clutches.

Wardrobe piece you can't live without.
My Rick Owens leather jacket.

Go-to nail color.
OPI's Let Me Bayou A Drink.

When you're here where do you shop and where do you eat?
KATIA Boutique. No matter where I am in the world I always get compliments on every piece I wear from there. For a girl's night out I usually suggest dinner at State of Grace following champagne and espresso martinis.

When you have visitors come to Houston, where do you take them?
Always to a sporting event. I am a huge basketball fan and am a big supporter of the Rockets. The Toyota Center is a gorgeous stadium and my father's company Admiral Glass & Mirror did the aluminum curtain walls and doors for the stadium.

What are you doing tonight to celebrate?
I'm going with close friends to one of my favorite sushi restaurants in New York BONDST.

Lauren Craft is carried online by Moda Operandi and in Houston at sloan/hall, IW Marks and KATIA. (KATIA is open by appointment only)
